Little Free Library in Beckley, West Virginia

I visited my dad in Beckley, West Virginia, last weekend and was delighted to have the chance to add some books to a Little Free Library there. It's located on South Kanawha Street and is described this way: "This is the first little free library in our city. It is one of seven sponsored by our church, Journey at the Place at the United Methodist Temple. The project was a collaboration among our church, newspaper office, and local businesses."

Among the books I added was this one about David Southwell's Hookland. I hope someone new stumbles upon that wonderful mythology.

There was one interesting book already inside that piqued my interest, though I didn't have room to take it back home to Arizona. I would post a picture of it, but Blogger is being a little janky right now. (I guess I can't complain, since it's free.) Anyway, the book's title is (deep breath) 1,001 Logical Laws, Accurate Axioms, Profound Principles, Trusty Truisms, Homey Homilies, Colorful Corollaries, Quotable Quotes, and Rambunctious Ruminations for All Walks of Life. Published in 1979, it was compiled by John Peers, edited by Gordon Bennett and illustrated by George Booth.

Says one Goodreads reviewer: "I didn't count all 1001, and they're not numbered, but a few are repeated." So there.
