Some artwork from Granfalloon #14 (1971)

Hey, it's the once-every-three-years fanzine post, right on schedule (laughs bitterly at the aspirations I once had for this subcategory).

Today I'm taking a quick look at issue #14 of Granfalloon, which was published in November 1971, when I was just 11 months old. Granfalloon ran for 20 issues from 1968 through 1976, according to Fancyclopedia 3.

Per the first page, this issue was edited and published by Linda and Ron Bushyager of Folsom, Pennsylvania. Single copies were available for 60 cents, if you weren't getting a free copy due to trades or providing an article, some artwork or a substantial letter of comment. The bottom of the contents page states: "this is a klutzy production." The issue includes an excerpt from Ted White's novel Trouble on Project Ceres.

The cover art is by Grant Canfield (1945-2025) and 12 artists total are featured in the issue. Here are a handful of those illustrations.

Tim Kirk (with a surveillance cartoon that feels
even more relevant in 2026 than 1971)
Jim McLeod
Judith Weiss
another by Ron Miller
