This is Steve Ditko's splash page to introduce the very-early Doctor Strange tale ("The House of Shadows"), which appears within Strange Tales #120 (May 1964).1
It was reported yesterday that Ditko — the Marvel artist who co-created Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Squirrel Girl, among many others — died on June 29 in Manhattan at age 90.
Here are some Twitter reactions to Ditko's passing.
Steve Ditko passed away today at age 90. Without him there's no Spider-Man, no Doctor Strange, no Green Goblin... and no Squirrel Girl. https://t.co/LAdan7LUiC pic.twitter.com/ajs3E6BsUU

I never met him, but for the 25h anniversary of Squirrel Girl, we checked to see if he wanted to draw something. He'd been on rough terms with Marvel for years but he did take the call. @Wil_Moss told me when he popped the question, Steve laughed for a bit and said "Nope". ❤️

It's the fact he laughed that made us both so happy. After all those years and all that bad blood, she was still a little bright spot in his history with Marvel.

It was sweet, and it'll be the closest I came to meeting him, and I'm glad we got that laugh. RIP Steve Ditko.
RIP to Steve Ditko. His art was sublime.

(Apologized to Dave Gibbons once for stealing his 9 panel grid all the time. Gibbons told me not to worry; he stole it from Ditko. We stand on the shoulders of giants.) pic.twitter.com/AuCi7nINYT
Never forget that Spider-Man is introduced in his first panel as a bookworm. RIP Steve Ditko. pic.twitter.com/hmAX4GeyDf

RIP Steve Ditko, who just passed at 90. Ditko’ Dr Strange was directly responsible for inspiring my hand gesture. Steve also co-created Spider-Man, Blue Beetle, The Question, The Creeper, Captain Atom and many more. He made my childhood magical. We honour you, Steve Ditko. pic.twitter.com/5DdND2uPfp

Gone at 90, Steve Ditko made Stephen strange and Spidey spectacular. As the artist and co-creator of many of Marvel's most memorable characters, he helped shape this great geeky universe we live in, and by the Hoary Host of Hoggoth, will live in our hearts and dreams forever. pic.twitter.com/o6rLE4HfP7
