Let's go back 65 years and check out the October 1960 issue of Pack-O-Fun magazine and some of the Halloween-themed craft projects it presented. I've had a handful of previous posts about this magazine (see the bottom of this post) and, in this issue especially, there's a lot of material that unfortunately is racially insensitive. For example, there are a lot of crafts involving Native American "cosplay," cultural appropriation and racially insensitive terminology. I veered away from some of the worst crafts in this issue, in that regard.
There's also a reader project suggested by Marie Lewis of Sherman, Texas, called the Apple Witch, which is pretty nifty.
Without further ado, here are some of the pages from inside...
- Plenty of projects in Pack-o-Fun
- Smiles and shivers, courtesy of Pack-o-Fun in 1970
- Groovy stuff from August/September 1970 issue of Pack-o-Fun
- How to make the Red Heel Sock Monkey and Sock Elephant
- Christmastime advertisement for a year of Pack-O-Fun
What the hell??
